2021 Strides Campaigns Aim to Break Fundraising Records
Updated: Sep 15
From cancer.org: The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement has united communities, companies, and individuals across the country in the fight to end breast cancer for more than two decades - and we have no intention of ever slowing down. Here in Second Life, it’s time to make Strides once again! In 2020, our Strides campaign grand total was $33,100 USD - and you know we want to beat that total in 2021. Second Life is home to several Strides campaigns, spanning from September 24th to October 31st. The SL Renaissance Festival starts the season, followed by Out Shop Cancer, Sci Fi Expo, I Pink I Can, and Spooky Strides. Attend one or attend all; they’re bound to be tons of fun… all in the name of fighting breast cancer! In addition to these featured campaigns, there are plenty of other Strides campaigns happening across the grid. Just look for the official American Cancer Society fundraising tools and make a donation!
Here are the Strides campaigns that will occur on or around ACS Island in 2021:
SL Renaissance Festival: September 24 - October 3 Contact: Skysong (sgudeman)
Out Shop Cancer: October 1 - October 31 Contact: Sandie Loxingly (Slate)
Sci Fi Expo - October 8 - October 17 Contact: Benjamin Brougham
I Pink I Can - October 8 - October 17 Contact: Jenny Shackle (Anatine)
Spooky Strides - October 21 - October 31 Contact: Nance Clowes
The American Cancer Society is currently investing more than $76 million USD in breast cancer research grants, and the ACS itself responds to more than 1.4 million requests for cancer information through their helpline and chat services. The ACS mobile app also helps to connect those facing breast cancer with trained breast cancer survivors to support them during their journey. In Second life, we do our part by offering virtual support groups at Hope Haven on ACS Island.
