ALONE WE CAN DO SO LITTLE

TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH

LEADERSHIP

The success of The American Cancer Society in Second Life is all about teamwork. People from all over the world volunteering their skill sets, becoming friends and collaborating together on computers, laptops, and smart phones in Second Life .

SERVICES

The American Cancer Society in Second Life is the umbrella for many programs and services.

Hope Haven is both a source for

cancer information and also home to our virtual support groups for cancer survivors and caregivers.

SPONSORS

It takes lots of volunteers being creative and collaborating together to make the American Cancer Society thrive in Second Life. It also takes a community of generous sponsors who financially support the programs and services in Second Life.

ABOUT US

The American Cancer Society has been active in Second Life for 19 years.

With the help of hundreds of volunteers and thousands who have donated, we have raised over

$5 million (USD) via Relay For Life, Strides Campaigns in October and MEGA events like

Fantasy Faire, SL Christmas Expo & Winter Breedable's Fair, SL Living Expo and SL Fandom Con.

All funds donated through official American Cancer Society fundraising tools in SL are routed to the American Cancer Society in RL. Throughout the year, all donations collected are transferred to ACS, who then allocates it to various mission focus areas, including (but not limited to):

Leading the Global fight against cancer

Cancer research grants

cancer.org and our 24/7 toll free phone (1-800-227-2345) & chat service

Hope Lodges (giving patients and families a free place to stay throughout treatment)

Rides for patients to cancer treatment programs

The American Cancer Society also provides services inworld via information portals, cancer survivor support groups & cancer caregiver support groups held at Hope Haven

on American Cancer Society Island in partnership with Linden Lab.

This website is designed to let people know about all of the amazing ACS support services

and fundraising activities happening in Second Life and the equally amazing teams

of people who work together to make it all happen.
